Firefox 0.9.1 coming in a few days

As Ben said, we should see in the next few days a new bugfix release. It will not include changes that happened on the Aviary branch, but it seems improvements have been made to the Winstripe default theme.

More Gmail goodies...

... a "Compose in Gmail" for Firefox. Edit: more about this extension here.

... Gmailto, a bookmarklet that turns every mailto: link into a Gmail compose window.

Gmail integration

Everything happens so fast. Doron has a teaser about Gmail/Mozilla integration, and then I learn (from a comment @ Doron's blaagh) that there is a Gmail-to-pop project.
This comes hot on the heels of gExodus, a mbox-to-Gmail converter (that uploads your mailbox to Gmail).

Can't stop the future !

A very fast emulator

I stumbled upon a very exciting project: a multi-platform emulator. Well, of course ther was Bochs, but it runs too slow on a "normal" computer to be useful. Well, now there is QEMU. It can emulate an x86 type processor, and PowerPC is under way (well you could also use for this PearPC).
The good thing is that it runs under Windows and Linux (x86 and PowerPC). Network is available in the last version (0.5.5) and many things seem to happen on the CVS version (but I haven't tried compiling it myself). And the most important thing: it's fast. Only 4 times slower on integer operations than the host CPU, and 10 times on floating point operations, but still it's 65 times faster than Bochs, and 1.2 times faster than Valgrind (which is not really an emulator as far as I could see).

This is running Morphix (which seems a nice project also by the way, the desktop looks very nice. Maybe I'll talk about it later):

It's still a hog on the processor by the way, so you'd better use a double-CPU computer (I wish I had one of those).

This is KDE starting in MandrakeMove:

And this is MandrakeMove once it's running:

TuxRacer starts, but it's still painfully slow (and hence unplayable).

No Gmail invites this morning...

Well, I guess something changed, because this morning no invitations were waiting for mel on Gmail. Maybe they have enough beta testers now ? Stay tuned in case I get them later.

Bug in Gmail : Unable to parse message

I just reported a bud in Gmail, because one message was not parsable.

However the source appears to be normal.

New checkbox in Gmail

Just in: a checkbox next to the login fields, that reads "don't ask for my password for 2 weeks".

Waiting for Firefox 0.9

Only 8 blocking bugs according to Ben Goodger. It's going to be worthwile, as past nightlies have been quite bug ridden. Next we can wait for compatible extensions (which you can produce now already).
